I “get” that it is supposed to be about Benghazi. But it implies that people died *because* Hillary lied, when any lies that Hillary said (and thus far Congress has not been able to prove any, just that she accurately reported what she was told by intelligence officials, i.e., it was the intelligence officials who lied if anybody lied) were *after* people died.
So what happened? Did Hillary lie, then time travel *back* in time to Benghazi, put on her Superwoman cape, fly 3,000 miles to Libya at the speed of light, and *personally* strangle her old friend Ambassador Stevens? And for those who say “but… Marines! Rapid reaction forces! Stand down orders! Blah blah!”, the Secretary of State is not in the chain of command for any of that. The President is. If you want to blame someone for people dying, blame Obama.
For the record, the situation in Benghazi was f**ked up. The CIA was running a covert operation there, and pulled strings with the State Department’s security department to keep security low-key in order to avoid attracting attention to the CIA presence, and also pulled strings to keep the security department from recommending evacuating the consulate, because that would have left the CIA agents without diplomatic cover. It’s possible that CIA director General Petraeus pulled strings even above Hillary’s head — yes, with Obama — to keep that consulate open so his agents would have diplomatic cover. So there’s plenty of people to blame here. Hillary a little bit, in that she dithered a bit about whether to pull the consulate out when her staff started telling her the security situation was getting worse, but she was also being told at the same time by her (CIA-owned) security experts that the security situation was fine. Thus why she dispatched Ambassador Stevens, a personal friend, to find out first-hand what was the situation. Which he did. Alas.
In short, the people with the most blame here are the CIA. They wanted that consulate open to give diplomatic cover to their agents, and they fought closing it until it was too late. And no, it wasn’t security budget cuts that caused the problem — the security situation at the end was such that nothing short of an entire Marine Expeditionary Unit could have kept that consulate secured. The problem was that the consulate should have been closed weeks before it was overrun, and the CIA fought that tooth and nail to avoid losing their agents’ diplomatic cover.
And what the fuck does that have to do with Hillary lying? Exactly.

WTF is that supposed to mean? It means that sneering kkkonservatives can soothe their tiny fee-fees by repurposing a true slogan that denounced Bush. Coz they know in their blackened souls, even if their conscious minds won’t allow them to admit it, that Bush lied, and people died. Even if it WAS true, Bush and realPresident Cheney’s lies caused more than 4,000 Americans (and at least 400,000 Iraqis) to die, vs. four Merkins in Benghazi. How it must sting, when they think of all those anti-war chants. Because modern-day kkkons are entirely about sneering, sarcasm and bile, it makes them feel better to throw that back at liberals. The issue that “Hillary lied” is a lie itself is a bonus for regressives, because taunting with an obvious falsehood is even more scornful. The facts that you point out only matter if you live in a reality-based universe. RWNJs’ “reality” is about how they feel, not anything factual.

Too true Bukko. I’ve pointed out the separation of powers between the three branches of government, and even the House and Senate. Does Not Compute with a lot of these folks. President = King/Dictator/etc., everything else is just noise.
I have a couple of folks at work who stated they’re not voting this year. When I mentioned the other stuff on the ballot, they seemed a bit surprised there was anything other than a choice for President. I pointed out there are initiatives which affect taxes, city planning, and legalization of marijuana, local government slots, along with House and Senate choices. I keep thinking folks forgot their civics lessons two minutes after they took the test in school – if they were taught it in the first place.
Idiocracy was not supposed to be a documentary, but just like ‘1984’ it is becoming reality.
