Again?
Look. We’ve been here before. The Clintonistas tried the same goddamn shit. We proved damn well then that any kind of “key escrow” scheme was fundamentally broken in a way that would let any bad actor access your data. They were forced to scrap that proposal when it was proven, decisively and mathematically, that this was exactly the same as giving every hostile power ever the exact same power to snoop on communications. Maybe they’d have to do some espionage to gain access to the part of the key being kept secret. But do you really seriously think we could keep that key secret with dozens of countries willing to pay hundreds of millions of dollars for it? I mean, crap, we can’t even keep a contractor from walking out of NSA HQ straight to the Kremlin with entire *hard drives* full of info, nevermind a single stupid key!
Giving the NSA the ability to read all encrypted information is *exactly* the same as giving the Russians, the Chinese, the frickin’ Taliban for that matter, the exact same ability. Period. And the fact that this NSA honcho has trotted that dead cow out to stink up the place is just more proof that there’s something rotten in the NSA. As if Edward Snowden hadn’t proven that already, well and good…

Yes, it seems likely he has already taken a bribe from foreign powers to attack the United States from inside.
Probably isn’t illegal anymore, though.

Well, Ted Cruz took bribes from cable companies to vote against net neutrality, so I guess the precedent has been more than set. Sigh.
