Her name was Nasim Najafi Aghdam. She claimed to be a vegan body builder, though with her tall thin physique you couldn’t really tell it unless she was actually flexing, like in this photo from her now-disappeared web site:

And on Tuesday she snapped and took a California-legal handgun (i.e. 10 round limit) onto the YouTube campus, managed to injure four people (consider what she would have done with an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine! But those are illegal in California), and then committed suicide.

All of her social media accounts have been disappeared down the Orwellian memory hole. All of her writings on the Internet have been disappeared down the Orwellian memory hole. Only fragments can be found in various caches and archives on the Internet.

What is interesting is that, in the few writings that I can find, she claims that there is no freedom on the Internet and that the big Internet media companies dictate what you will see or not see. It is interesting that then the big Internet media companies immediately validate her thesis by disappearing her social media presence Orwellian fashion after she snaps. It’s almost as if they don’t want you to see what she was saying. Interesting how they prove her thesis. Too bad about Nasim though, she committed suicide for no real reason, since virtually nobody actually decided to go look for what she was actually saying as versus what the big media companies claim she said. Not that it’s easy to do so — I expect even those various caches and archives to be cleaned out shortly to finish “disappearing” her down the Orwellian memory hole, leaving us only with the prefabricated image of her generated by the big media companies rather than her own words.

2018. It’s 1984+34. War is peace. Tyranny is freedom. Censorship is patriotic. I love Big Brother, he wants only the best for me. Don’t you love Big Brother too?

Yes, information warfare. A shadowy global operation involving big data, billionaire friends of Trump, and various nativist groups has been waging information warfare using, amongst other things, a massive pile of data purchased legally from Facebook. Their goals appear to be to use nativism as a political tool to obtain power for their wealthy and powerful clientele, as well as suppressing the vote of opponents of their clients and creating fake divisions amongst their clients’ opponents.

Read the article. It’s rather long, but important. I pretty much knew this had to be happening. The phenomenon of the (effectively) pro-Trump Bernie Bro was suspicious as hell from day one, Bernie is the anti-Trump, more or less. But The Observer has the smoking guns.

Don’t join the book burners. Don’t think you are going to conceal faults by concealing evidence that they ever existed.

— — Dwight D. Eisenhower, Remarks at the Dartmouth College Commencement Exercises, Hanover, New Hampshire. June 14, 1953

That was back when Republicans (at least some of them) were defenders of liberty. Today, the most fervent defenders of the Republican administration are also today’s most fervent book-burners.

Today’s book burners don’t use matches. They use false reports of “violations of community standards” to Facebook and Twitter and YouTube. Whether it is Jim Wright that the book burners are going after on Facebook, or haters maliciously flagging entire Youtube channels that have content that offends their political sensibilities or simply mention them in the context of false flagging, book burners today are more active than they ever were in the supposed bad old days of Joe McCarthy’s America, the days in which President Eisenhower was speaking above to college students.

What’s different today is that book burners can bring together entire electronic lynch mobs via platforms like 4chan or Reddit or the Daily Mail to burn people’s electronic books. And unlike in the past, where stalwart librarians were fierce in defense of the authors of the books in their libraries, Google (or Facebook) doesn’t care, because they don’t have to. It would cost money to defend content creators, so they won’t.

And that, my friends, is the problem with the fact that we’ve privatized our “libraries”. When book burners show up, what do Google or Facebook do? They just let the book burners burn books. Because there’s no profit in stopping them by putting a human in the way of letting the book burners burn books, indeed, it costs money. They have no stern librarians with horn-rimmed glasses saying “you will burn books in my library over my dead body.” They just shrug and say “the machine did it, not me.” And don’t lift a finger.

And what kind of society we will have, when we can have any book burned at the whim of practically any special interest book?

Not much of one. As we’re seeing now, I suspect…

The order that God-Emperor Donald the Trump just issued blocking legal visa holders from entering the US is literally illegal.

Immigration law does not allow a President to strip a visa from a legal immigrant upon a whim. Immigration law sets out a set of actions on the part of a visa holder that can result in loss of a visa, from being arrested for a crime to being tagged as part of a terrorist group by the FBI. Merely being Muslim is not one of them.

In short, God-Emperor Trump has no right under the law to simply strip a visa from a legal immigrant who is in full compliance with all visa requirements, and stripping or granting a visa based upon religion literally violates a thousand laws passed by Congress over the past 50 years as well as violates the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. Yet he has ordered thousands of people to have their valid visas seized at the border based upon their religion and basically said to everybody saying, “that’s illegal”, “I’m the President and if the President does it, it’s not illegal.”

This is not the action of a President. This is the action of a dictator who believes he is above the law and above the Constitution. And CBP jumped right on it when it came to enforcing this illegal order. No bureaucratic delays, no nothing, just eager, gleeful enforcement of a blatantly illegal order.

This is dangerous. This could possibly be disastrously dangerous. A President hasn’t so blatantly violated the Constitution since Andrew Jackson told the Supreme Court, “you have issued your order, now enforce it.” when they said he couldn’t remove the Cherokee to Oklahoma under the Constitution. I will discuss this further in my next post.

Update: The lawsuits have been filed. The question is whether God-Emperor Trump will obey the orders of the courts when said orders are served. We shall see.

My congratulations to Vladimir Putin and James Comey for organizing the first-ever intelligence agency coup in American history. Let us just pray it is a bloodless one. But I doubt it will be, because the long knives generally come out after a coup as the winners of the coup exterminate anybody who they fear may overturn their coup. I expect that we will continue to see a “President” chosen by the intelligence agencies for the near future, however long that may be. It was ten years between Yuri Andropov’s coup in the Soviet Union and the final collapse of the Soviet Union (and note that Gorbachev’s career was fostered by the KGB though he was not himself in the KGB), and the KGB is arguably still in charge of the rump Russian state that remained behind. The chances of the intelligence agency coup voluntarily relinquishing power anytime soon are slim, they will continue their program of disenfranchising voters who disagree with their agenda (which won the state of North Carolina for them, and probably Florida), and they will appoint a Supreme Court who will rubber stamp any actions they undertake.

I may be silent for a while. Time to reassess things. This blog is pseudononymous, it is not anonymous by any means, it is quite easy to connect this blog to the actual person behind it. That may be actually physically dangerous in Reichsmarschall Trump’s regime, in a way I didn’t fear during President Bush’s regime. President Bush was many things, but he was not a hatemonger, and he did not encourage his followers to commit acts of violence. The same is not true of Reichsmarschall Trump.

The FBI’s justification for requestion that Apple hack its own phones is 100% BS. The FBI already has Syed Farook’s call records. The phone company gave those records to the FBI, no questions asked. They also have all his emails, which they obtained from his Internet service providers’ email servers. They also have all his older information such as his contacts list from 3 months ago because it was retrieved from iCloud by Apple for the FBI. There is nothing — zero, zilch, nada — on this phone of interest to the terrorism investigation. And finally, this was his work phone — his personal phone, as well as his wife’s personal phone, were destroyed by them prior to the FBI catching them. Clearly if there was anything incriminating on the phone he would have destroyed this iPhone, too.

So this is not about terrorism. This is about the FBI using fear of terrorism to create a precedent to allow them to bully any creator of encryption technology to force them to put a back door in the encryption. This is about the FBI wanting a snoop in your pocket that they can connect to at any time and hear private conversations between you and your spouse without a warrant and without a court order. This is, to be blunt, a pure power play on the part of the FBI in order to try to get unlimited snooping powers on everybody’s phone without court supervision or oversight.

Finally, about some of the technical issues:

  1. Apple’s firmware has the ability to flash the phone with a new operating system. Right now, if you do that with Apple’s existing tools, this also wipes the phone clean. Clearly the FBI doesn’t want that. So they want Apple to make new tools and a new OS image that will allow them to remove the number of times that you can enter a password before the phone self-wipes itself, so that they can then try every possible password.
  2. You cannot make an image of the phone and run it on different hardware, because the OS is keyed to the TCM (Trusted Computing Module) that’s glued to the glass as part of the Start button / fingerprint reader. If you try to run it on a phone with a different TCM, it will brick itself. And you can’t duplicate the TCM because it auto-generates an internal private key that it never shares with anybody else the first time that it is initialized, when Apple replaces the glass on an iPhone (and thus the TCM) they have to completely wipe the iPhone and let a new OS image re-initialize itself to the new TCM. And you cannot easily transplant the TCM to new hardware because it’s basically impossible to extract it from the glass without breaking it or the glass, either of which renders it useless.
  3. You cannot clone the phone’s memory then re-flash it back to its original state over and over again every time it wipes itself because flash memory has a limited number of times that it can be written. A few thousand times, maybe. Certainly not 999999 times.
  4. And, as I pointed out, none of this is necessary. Apple has given the FBI a *ton* of information from this phone without hacking it. That’s why I say it’s not a matter of Apple not cooperating. It’s a matter of the FBI doing a power play to get unlimited snooping power.

So what’s Apple’s endgame here? If they simply roll over for the FBI, that’s it. That’s the end of the iPhone as a viable platform. Like Blackberry, they will be dumped as poison by anybody who cares about privacy and security, because once they roll over for the FBI once, they’ve set a precedent that will allow any government anywhere — including tyrannical governments like China’s — to demand that they do the same for them. So Apple is going to appeal this as far up the chain as they can.

And if they still lose?

Well, I suppose Cupertino is going to have an empty spaceship headquarters building. Tim Cook is going to be looking for real estate in Cork, Ireland, where EU data privacy laws apply. Too bad about all that tax money that will be going overseas with him too…

… you believe that government is not to be trusted to provide health care for all Americans, but IS to be trusted with the tools to spy on each and every American as part of the “War on Terror”. See: Latest Supreme Court decision by five conservative justices basically saying “you can’t use the courts to overturn the Bush secret spying program,” and the crickets coming from the right wing over that.

Doublethink, much?

Did you know that Hitler was a socialist? Really! And Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a Republican when he was assassinated. And Stalin was a fascist, not a Communist. Except Communists are the same thing as fascists, even though Hitler killed every Communist he could find. And Russia attacked Georgia rather than Georgia invading South Ossetia. And war is peace. Freedom is tyranny. Obama is a Socialist. GAH!

Y’know, I would have more respect for these people if they were not so obviously using George Orwell’s novel 1984 as their template. In 1984, the English language is being re-written into NewSpeak. Words that once had meaning now mean the exact opposite of what they once meant, or have changed in meaning to be exactly what Big Brother wants them to be. There are entire areas of thought that are no longer capable of being discussed because the words to use to discuss them no longer have the meaning they once have.

Now me, I read 1984 and I see a precautionary tale. But when it comes to the tighty righties and their assault upon the English language, it’s clear that the tighty righties don’t see 1984 as a precautionary tale. They see it as an instruction manual. And the end product of that instruction manual? Why, we all know that one. If you want a picture of their perfect future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face — forever.
