For example, this CIA asset says “Snowden was not trapped by the US in Russia, he voluntarily stayed there.” Except that blatantly contradicts the public record, where, while Snowden was still in the international section of the Moscow airport (i.e. not officially in Russia yet), Bolivia granted Snowden asylum, and the US forced its European allies to block any aircraft that might carry Snowden from Russia to Bolivia. The U.S. forced its allies to even force the Presidential aircraft of Bolivian president Evo Morales to the ground in Austria, refusing it transit until after Austrian authorities verified that Snowden was not on the plane. This was a blatant violation of international law, which holds that the Presidential aircraft of a head of state is inviolate, but the United States doesn’t care about international law except when other people break it. The entire illegal invasion of Iraq, which no American President has ever apologized for nevermind any of its perpetrators ever being punished for it, is proof enough of that.
Then there’s the dismissal by this CIA asset, Edward Jay Epstein of the size and scope of the programs that Snowden revealed. A dismissal that is as accurate as Epstein’s spreading of CIA lies about a fictitious connection between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein in order to justify the invasion of Iraq. The programs Snowden revealed collected all of the metadata of every phone call in America into a massive database, as well as all of the text messages, internal communications of major corporations like Google, and so forth. The revelations were so massive that they forced Google to move up a program to encrypt all of their communications by years, requiring a massive investment on Google’s part because the NSA had tapped into the fiber optics between their data centers. Google didn’t do that out of the goodness of their heart. They did that because they couldn’t meet European privacy standards and do business in Europe if they didn’t do it, once the extent of the NSA spy program became evident. The Snowden revelations caused massive disruption to the operations of American companies that the NSA had penetrated as they had to change their operations in order to continue doing business outside the United States. This wasn’t the tiny program that CIA asset Epstein oh so accurately insists. It was, and likely still is, a massive program that has tendrils all over the place gathering massive amounts of data that require entire massive data centers just to store it, nevermind process it. Epstein, as with the Saddam Al Qaeda connection, simply regurgitated CIA bullshit from his handlers verbatim without even reading the public newspaper articles on what Snowden actually disclosed.
And so on and so forth. The CIA in other words is up to its disinformation tricks again, using one of its tame asset journalists to spread lies. So now we have a CIA asset lying about a FSB asset, after a FSB asset has lied about how much he gave to the FSB. Wow. And this mendacity on top of mendacity is supposed to change my mind about anything because… why? All it convinces me of is that my government lies to me. Which I suppose is something, but I already knew that, just as I already knew that Putin wasn’t granting Snowden sanctuary out of the kindness of his cold black twisted heart.
