Okay, so now North Korea declares that their armistice is null and void and they are now at war again with South Korea. WTF?! In case you don’t know, 2/3rds of South Korea’s economy is in the Seoul metropolitan area. Which, in case you’re wondering, is within 20 miles of the North Korea border — the North Koreans could nuke it by putting a bomb on a giant slingshot and tossing it over the border. Blow up Seoul, and 5% of the world economy goes up in smoke. Eeep!
In other news, the Associated Press’s business reporter blasts Hugo Chavez’s legacy in Venezuela because Chavez wasted Venezuela’s oil petrodollars on silly things like education, healthcare, and food for the poor rather than on building gigantic skyscrapers. Apparently to our business elite, the fact that 0% of Venezuelans live or work in the world’s tallest skyscraper is more damning than the fact that Chavez reduced the poverty rate by over 2/3rds… priorities, dear oh dear.
And finally, I was quite irate to find that a panel of judges in a third world country said it’s perfectly legal to rape an unmarried woman because rape laws in that country only apply to married women. Oh wait, that was in California, not Saudi Arabia. EEEP!
