Minnesota Ambient

January 28, 2013 by badtux99

Cloud Cult, “Unexplainable Stories” off their 2010 album Light Chasers. Let’s see, we have a cello, a trombone, a violin, drums, then there is a second horn in the background but I can’t tell what it is because it’s hidden behind the keyboards and of course electric guitar and keyboards. Definitely not your usual indie band… very experimental and, well, different. I’d think they were a bunch of music school students experimenting with making rock with classical instruments except for the fact that they’ve been around since 1995. Hrm.

I’m reading a book a friend of mine just published, I’m even mentioned in it, you’ll have to write a damn good book to top his.

THE ACCIDENTAL PEACEMAKER by George Lindamood.

Do you like the band, Halloween, Alaska? They are also from Minnesota. They are like a combination of old-school sting and early-90s electronica.

For the most part I’m not a fan of old-school Sting and early-90s electronica. I’m sure they’re a perfectly fine band. I just have rather… unique… tastes.
