I don’t know how to categorize Chelsea Wolfe. Industrial goth? Well, her second album (this one) is sort of industrial goth. Folk metal? Maybe her first album. Both of her first two albums have a lot of experimental stuff too. But her latest album is completely acoustic folk songs!
Clearly someone who isn’t interested in a music career, where you have to find yourself a niche and stick with it if you’re going to build the sort of fan base needed to sustain a career… but that’s okay from my perspective. You never know what you’re going to get when you plunk her name into YouTube and click on one of her songs… but then, isn’t that why we do this anyhow? To hear new sounds? Well, Chelsea Wolfe definitely qualifies in that regard!
