Well, they released some self-recorded juvenilia before then while touring as a child act on the bluegrass circuit, but this was their first “real” album. And Chris Thile has one of the smoothest voices of any male singer anywhere… even today, a decade later when he’s in his thirties rather than 21 as he was when this album was recorded.
